Opportunities For Giving

The Department of Political Science at the University of North Texas is one of the most highly ranked political science departments in the nation. Sustaining academic excellence requires investment. Your assistance is especially needed during these times because of the budget cutbacks affecting the Department of Political Science and UNT. To continue to provide the best possible education to the students of the University of North Texas, enlighten the community about the important events of the day, and continue to gain national and international recognition as one of the best political science departments in the United States, we need your financial assistance. Any level of giving, no matter how large or small makes a difference!

There are several areas in which you can help the department and its students:

The Political Science Department Scholarship Fund
This scholarship provides scholarships to students, both undergraduate and graduate, to pursue studies in Political Science.  The department's ability to offer these scholarships is instrumental to its goal of attracting the best and most promising students.

The Steven C. Poe Scholarship
This scholarship, named after the late Steve Poe, our colleague who pioneered the scientific study of human rights, provides assistance for students studying human rights, at both the national and international level.  The fund supports both undergraduate and undergraduate students.

The C. Neal and Carol Tate Fund
This scholarship, named after the late Neal Tate, our colleague who did path-breaking work in comparative juidicial systems and human
rights, provides assistance to doctoral students in Political Science.

The Frank Feigert Scholarship Fund
This scholarship fund was recently established to help meritorious and deserving undergraduate students complete their degrees in political science. It is named after one of the department's most beloved faculty members who recently retired after 25 years of outstanding service to UNT.

Oscar Arias Peace Studies Scholarship
This scholarship, initially funded by the Nobel Peace Prize winning Oscar Arias, supports undergraduate and graduate students focusing on
peace studies.

The Taiwan Academic Exchange Program
This scholarship fund promotes student and faculty exchange between UNT and colleges and universities in Taiwan. It was started with a generous gift from the Taiwanese Chamber of Commerce of DFW.

The Political Science Conference Fund
This fund helps bring renowned speakers to the UNT campus to speak to students, faculty and the community about important issues of the day.

Clovis and Marilyn Morrisson Pre-Law Scholarship
This scholarship helps students who are political science majors and planning on attending law school.

If you would rather contribute to the department in some other way, you may join our McAlister Society. To become a member of the McAlister Society, you need only contribute $100.00 for annual membership. The McAlister Society promotes the general activities of the Department of Political Science. Members of the McAlister Society are invited to department functions, receive our department bulletin, and enjoy many other benefits. If you decide to give to any of these funds at the $1000 level, you are automatically entitled to belong to the UNT President's Council.
