Undergraduate Scholars Grant

The Political Science Department is pleased to announce our new Undergraduate Scholars Grant program to support Political Science majors. We welcome applications from current undergraduates requesting support to participate in an internship, present at a conference, participate in a study abroad program, or conduct research. We will award up to $250 to supplement the cost of an internship and up to $500 to supplement the cost of conference participation, a study abroad program, or conducting research. Awards for internships will be made after the internship and awards for other activities will be made before they occur. The awards will be made on a rolling basis until the grant fund for each year has been depleted. Students may apply more than once, but will only be awarded one grant. Upon completion of use of the grant, the Department would like a brief follow-up report of what was accomplished emailed to the address below.

To apply, please send the following to Dr. Gloria Cox (gloria.cox@unt.edu):

  • Explanation of what you plan to do with the grant (be specific!)
  • Budget for the internship, project, conference, or program and how much you are requesting
  • Unofficial transcript
  • Documentation of activity (such as evidence that a paper was accepted for a conference, acceptance to a study abroad/internship program, note from faculty supervisor supporting research, etc.)
