The faculty of the Department of Political Science at the University of North Texas have an outstanding reputation for scholarly research and teaching in a highly-ranked department. Academic Analytics ranks our research productivity 19th out of 129 political science programs nationally. Locally, we are one of the highest-ranked departments at the University of North Texas.

Our award-winning faculty are highly-visible in the profession. Two of our faculty have sat on the Executive Council of the American Political Science Association, and held prominent positions on the Executive Council of the International Studies Association, the Western Political Science Association and other organizations. The Department was also home to the American Political Science Review, the premier journal of political science research, from 2012 to 2016.
