Where Art History & Politics Meet: Community Memorials

Join us and the College of Visual Arts & Design's Art History Department on Denton Square to discuss the issues surrounding Confederate Soldier in Denton Square.

The event will start in Denton Square where students and visitors will have the opportunity to hear from Civil Rights Activist Willie Hudspeth to discuss the history surrounding the Confederate Soldiers. After Mr. Hudspeth speaks, the group will move to the Denton Civic Center for a discussion on Quakertown & today's controversy about memorializing through art. The artist for the Quakertown Memorial, Paula Blincoe Collins, will be on hand to discuss the preparing artwork and its potential implications.

The event will be providing refreshments!
