Graduate Scholarships and Awards

The Department of Political Science offers several funding opportunites through Graduate Scholarships and Awards.

The following is a list of scholarships and awards with updated information and application deadlines. Note: All applicants will need to have a registered UNT EUID in order to apply for scholarships and awards.

  • Academic Achievement Scholarship (AAS): This scholarship is available to new doctoral and master's students for the first year of study with a possible 1 year renewal. Recipients of this competitive scholarship receive $1000 per academic year- $500 in the Fall and $500 in the Spring and may be eligible for in-state tuition rates. Learn more and apply here.

Application deadline: Friday March 30, 2018 at 11:59 P.M. Note: Students will need to be admitted into a program by March 30th and have a registered UNT EUID. Students without an EUID must contact their academic department. Undecided and pending students are ineligible to receive the award. Students and Departments will be notified of the results by Friday, April 13th

  • Dr. Betty Berkeley Graduate Fellowship in Interdisciplinary Studies: This fellowship is open to 1 outstanding student enrolled in either a Master's of Art or Master's of Science degree in Interdisciplinary Studies. Learn more and apply here.

Application deadline: Monday, May 14, 2018 at 11:59 P.M.

  • Toulouse Dissertation Award: This award recognizes individuals whose dissertation makes a significant contribution to their field of study. It is open to recent doctoral graduates and doctoral students who have completed their dissertation for spring graduation. Learn more and apply here.

Priority for Application Review: Monday, July 16, 2018 at 11:59 P.M.

  • Externally Funded Doctoral Students Scholarship: This scholarship is available to eligible doctoral students who demonstrate academic excellence. Recipients receive $1,000 per academic year - $500 in the Fall and $500 in the Spring - and may be eligible for in-state tuition rates. Students must provide proof of academic support of $10,000 or more from an institution outside of UNT to be considered for the award. Learn more and apply here.
